Ok, so today was my interview for Area Coordinator.. and yeah. Well there goes all of my confidence. Let me explain.
The plus side… 2 of the interviewers, Lora Tanfara and Kevin Ainey are both Recreationists that I’ve worked with already. In fact, Lora is on my resume as one of my references… And Kevin… Well I’ve known Kevin since I started working for the City almost 5 years ago. Anyway, that plus the Positive 3-way I got last year (in essence, a letter of commendation) and the letter that one of my kid’s parents wrote to my supervisors last year (that’s now in my records) would deffinately help. And… I helped out with training last year (both staff and volunteers).
So yeah, list of good stuff… now on the point that really brought my confidence down is this. When I interviewed to be a Coordinator, they were interviewing something like 15 people for 11 positions. Gave me roughly 2/3 chances to make it. Well here… for AC, they’re interviewing 14 for 5 positions… That’s down to just over 1/3! I was pretty confident last year that I could beat out 5 other people to make it. But 10? And I know the people who applied too… At least I can make very good guesses as to who applied. And I’m pretty sure that most of them have more years than me. And on top of that, I’m pretty convinced that I did really bad on the “Scenarios” section… *DOCUMENT!!!* Always Document! Ghar. Something I kept forgetting to mention… And this time around, they weren’t giving me hints either… I still remember for my interview for Camp Coordinator, the interviewers kind of led me on a little bit…
Anyway, we’ll know next week.. For now there’s nothing much else I can do about it. Bleh.
