Stupid…
Posted by: in Blogger on March 30th, 2007
So I files my taxes today. And you know what’s stupid?? I owe $3.11… and the cut off for what they don’t collect is $2. So I gotta go to the bank or wherver they ask me to go and pay $3.11! :S
But what’s stupider is the reason why I even owe taxes – I hid my frigging TTC Pass receipts. So I was looking for it right, and I know I keep it in a drawer on my bookshelf. But I couldn’t find it. So I was like, screw it, and went to file my taxes. Then, I started putting away the stuff, and I looked inside of my old UofT ID holder and voila there they were… 15 minutes too late… So now, instead of getting 40 bucks in refund, I owe $3. Stupid. Just. Stupid.
Costly day…
Posted by: in Blogger on March 29th, 2007
I decided to drive downtown today to pick up my new suit – and it cost me. I couldn’t find a parking spot anywhere, so I had to park in a lot, which costs $4 every frigging half hour (stayed for an hour). Then of course, I had to pay for parking at school… Another $5 bucks (it’s only $2 per hour here).
The positive there is that I actually ate at home before I came to school, so that saved me the $10 I normally spend on lunch on Thursdays. But I did buy a sundae from MacDonalds, and some Tim’s before my class started. Plus, and this is really amazing, I came really relaly close to getting a parking ticket… LOL, I was 15 minutes late from buying a new ticket… and so when I finally did get out of the car to get a new ticket (leaving behind the ticket that was 15 minutes late), a parking cop (dunno exactly what they’re called) came up to my car and started writing me a ticket. Good thing I noticed that she was there while I was buying the ticket, so I booked it down, and told her I was buying a new one. So she cancelled the ticket, thankfully…
I so knew it wasn’t a good day for this… I shoulda left my car at Kennedy Station and taken the subway here. Though I probably woulda only saved like 6 bucks or so, and I would have had to carry around my new suit to everywhere I went today. So overall, it’s not so bad, but I pretty much paid for convenience…
Anyway, what else is there for me to write about.. man it’s been a while. Man I’m having a hard time figuring out what to write about – or what order I’ll do it in.. maybe a list’ll help me out.
- Bartending school is done, and I’m freaking scared for the exam… Passing is 85%. Oh my, who’d have thought it would be that hard? I need to identify all the details of 20 cocktails… Glass, garnish, ingredients, etc. Pretty freaking hard when you have over a hundred cocktails to memorize.
- On that note, I have a paper due 2 days after that test… and even though they told me I don’t have to come in right away (they give you as much time as you want to study before the test… the date they give you is just the earliest you can make an attempt), I don’t really wanna put it off, cause I’m just gonna get lazy..
- Another way for me to get lazy is this interview I had on Wednesday. It’s for an summer internship with the Ontario Liberal Party. If I get that internship, that pretty much means I won’t be bartending this summer – there’s no way I can pass this internship up.
- That would mess up my summer schooling too.. I’ve decided that there’s no way I would take summer school if I needed to work full time. This is exactly why I went for bartending school in the first place, hoping that I could work part time only, and still make enough money as if I was working full time. Anyway, this really messes up my summer plans for the next 2 or 3 years, cause I need to take summer school one of these summers (I only have 3 summers left in University), but I also planned to spend the entire summer of 2009 in the Philippines… and I was really hoping not to have to take summer school after my 4th year. I’ll be hearing if I got accepted to the program in the next two weeks.. I’m kinda really hoping I did get in. But at the same time I kinda am not… Gha, I just wanna know… needs a fastforward button for life…
- My brain is about to fry itself out trying to study. I gotta get on this frigging essay due next Wednesday, and I gotta start (re)reading all my readings for POL208 and POL203… Ghar, that’s hundreds of pages I must somehow stuff into this little brain of mine.
- Interestingly, only these two PoliSci courses are giving me issues regarding their exams… its interesting cuase they’re my favourite courses, but I am seriously hating them right now.
- Oh yah, and I have all these piano pieces to learn as well.. First, Joyce’s grandparent’s wedding (recomitment ceremony), and then the mass amount of music I need to learn for Good Friday and Easter (well.. not so much learn, but work on/master…). And I’m barely spending time on the piano. On top of that, I have a bunch of theory to mark for my students at the school of music, which I’m seriously not in the mood to do…
- Finally… that’s just really the best way to describe how I feel right now… Not in the mood… to do anything… meaning, LAZY. Gha, it always happens around this time of the year. The end is in sight! I can finally see myself sitting by the beach for hours and hours, relaxing, without a care in the world… It started today… I’m wearing shorts right now. Horay… From now on I only wear pants for church and job interviews.. LOL.
Blehh…

My first creation, a wonderful drink called “Purple Haze” – Vodka, Cranberry Juice, and Blue Curacao.
My modest bar…

Building a shooter… This one is a “Rock Lobster” – Khalua, Amaretto, and Baileys…

Carefully topping it up…

The finished product…

Other cocktails… On the left is a Harvy Wallbanger – Vodka, Galliano, and Orange Juice. And a Sex on the Beach – Peach Schnapps, Cranberry Juice, and Orange Juice.

Isaac holding another one… the Green Widow. It wasn’t mixed well at this point, but it did turn green. It’s Vodka, Orange Juice, and Blue Curacao.

Finally the Bazooka Joe (top)… Yes it tasted like bubble gum. That’s Banana Liqueur on the bottom, then Blue Curacao, then Baileys Irish Creme. Yum. And (bottom) the Brain Hemorrhage (also known as the Test Tube Baby), which is Peach Schnapps, Baileys Irish Creme, and then Grenadine Syrup. Still haven’t tasted this one – kinda scares me a little. LOL.
300 Haha!

No this isn’t about the movie, though it was good – but I’ve blogged extensively about that already. Well alright so not so extensively, but I’ve already blogged about it, so yah. This has to do with this post being my 300th post ever. Horahh!!
I’m not going to write too much though, I’m just doing this cause I realized it’s been a few days since I last posted. It’s been a pretty crazy few days too – been out of the house all day each day. This is why…
- On Monday, I started bartending school, which ran from 9:30AM till 4PM. I had to skip my last hour of work and pretty much had to run out of the house to get there on time. I’ll talk more about bartending school next time. But it was great! After that though, I had class at UofT, which is why the day was really extra long. I probably got home at 7PM that night or so…
- On Tuesday, I had a brunch thing with Charlie and Marlene Fordham, friends visiting from BC. It was in Oakville so again, I had to rush out of the house (I didn’t skip work this time) to make it down there on time. Then I had classes afterward as well, then I had another meeting with a friend, Carol, from camps. We went to Yorkdale Mall, cause she was going somewhere close by there afterward. Anyway, I didn’t get home till probably 8PM that day.
- Yesterday (Wednesday), was the second day of Bartending. Again, I didn’t skip any work, but I was rushing out to catch the GO Train. Again, classes afterward meant I didn’t get home till 8PM or so.
Phew. That’s my last 3 days. Today’s going to be a pretty busy one too, though I don’t have to be out so early. Got class this afternoon, then work at the church. But tomorrow’s really going to be the sweet one. A whole day of nothingness, horay! I rented Casino Royale on Tuesday, and I still haven’t seen it. Can’t do it tonight of course, cuase it’s Grey’s Anatomy night (well maybe I can if I stay up late, but I don’t really wanna do that).
Happy Birthday, Tina!

*Shudder* That’s such a horrible picture… of me. LOL. Crazy book-loving chick, who I must credit with really pushing me over the edge into the world of blogging.. Here’s to more… I forget what those drinks are called… at Metro East. God Bless. Enjoy “full” adulthood.
Number 1 rule in poker…
Posted by: in Blogger on March 17th, 2007
I can’t stand online poker sometimes. Too many idiots who fancy themselves the next Doyle Brunson. I only play for fun. And for the record – I started playing poker long ago, before it was a fad. I played back when no one’s still heard of the movie, Rounders… When “Maverick” was still the definitive poker movie (at least I don’t think Rounders was a big movie yet cause I hadn’t heard of it – I was lucky enough to find poker buddies who actually knew they were doing…).
- Any more than 4 players, I would only pay to see the flop if my hole cards were 2 faces, or a face and high number. I wouldn’t go in if I had two numbered cards, even if they were a pair. It’s always possible that one of the 5 people or whatever who followed – and there’s always 5 or so people who follows on the first frigging hand, even if the bet is high – will hit a higher pair.
- If I do go in with face cards, I wouldn’t try to bet high or anything. I’d just meet the blind, or meet whatever bet was out there (unless some nub has gone all in), and wait until I actually hit something before betting high.
- But when I do bet high when there’s still 5-10 people in the game, I bet really high, like go all in. As I said before, someone will always follow.
- Once there’s less people… then I actually start paying a little more attention to what’s going on, maybe doing a little of Doyle’s Power Pokering…
- No matter what, I always remember that online poker is about 90% luck and 10% skill, so I don’t get pissed if I loose. Nor do I get all cocky if I win.
But my number one rule of all. And one that has served me well, by the way. Is this. Always go all in on 2-7 offsuits (the statistically worse hole cards in texas hold’em). Why? I dunno, and I don’t care. I just do it, even if it’s the first hand. Oh yeah, someone always follows of course. But yeah, since it’s 90% luck… might as well right? As I said before, it’s served me well. I think I must have won about 75% of the times that I’ve gone all in on a 2-7 offsuit… Here’s just an example, with 4 nabs who followed me in…
Basically. It was the first hand in the game and I got a 7-2 offsuit. So I called all in like my rule says… and naturally 4 people follow me in. Well, I hit a straight. LOL. And sorry nabs, I’m $7500 ahead. I kinda felt bad – I hate being up like that. And I’m sure a few of them were cursing me at this point. But whatever. There’s no frigging skill in online poker. It’s all luck…
On Prairie Dogs…
Posted by: in Blogger on March 13th, 2007
“Hank, you shouldn’t feel guilty cause you had a good idea. You should feel shocked or bewildered, but not guilty…” – Brent Leroy (Butt).
That’s a quote from my favourite show that I don’t actually watch consistently. I watched last night’s season finale, which had to do with one of my favourite animals – Prairie Dogs. (Warning, Spoilers) First about the episode, Hank has a good idea (Hank is kind of the village idiot) to promote tourism in Dog River (fictional town in Saskatchewan that the show is based in), and that is to paint regular sized prairie dogs (changed to large and regular sized prairie dogs and gophers by the mayor) just like the moose in Toronto, and… Cows (?) in… bah I forgot which city.
Anyway, his idea takes off, and tourism begins to pick up in the small town. Because of this, Corner Gas gets the attention of a large gas station chain, Pump n’ Go, which makes an offer to purchase the station from Brent. Another series of events occur, including a visit by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and a bunch of big changes occur in the small town. Emma becomes Mayor, and Karen, the chief of police; Wanda becomes a news reporter for Canada AM, Brent does decide to sell the gas station, and Lacey gets an offer from Pump n’ Go for her restaurant as well, so she sells and moves back to Toronto.
Hank is sad about how his idea has torn apart his world, but then it is shown that the entire episode was just a day dream of Hank, which he then prompts him not to say his idea until the very end of the episode, when he mentions it to the whole gang. When the idea kind of takes off, he starts freaking out and runs out of the restaurant, and everyone is wondering if they should go after him. But this is when Brent notices a banana loaf that Lacey has just baked, at which point everything pretty much goes back to normal.
(Spoilers End Here) So yah, as I mentioned its my favourite show that I don’t watch that regularly – in fact I didn’t know its regular time until last night. But I think I’m really going to get more into it now. I’m gonna go buy the DVD sets, since they’re really cheap, so I can get caught up.
Another Prairie Dog show that I like is the movies that we use at Kid’s Trec. It’s a cartoon show callee “Little Dogs on the Prairie”. Haha. I remember when we first started showing it last year – we still had really young kids then, and it seemed like I was the only one getting the jokes (the lesson plan is really for like 10-12 year olds). Anyway, I really love that show. In fact I’m going to borrow the tapes form Jerlene and watch them through (especially since I missed part of the second set that we were showing cause i was in the Philippines). Haha.
Ok, I’m gonna get myself a hot chocolate, then finish reading this article I should be reading for school. Then, my day is over and I get to go home, horay.
Tomorrow, I plan to finally get my room in order, look for all of my pay stubs from the church so I can finally file my taxes. Then I gotta have the car cleaned… and.. I forget the other thing I needed to do. Oh and yeah, I finished editting my videos from last Sunday, and uploading them to YouTube, but I have been putting off posting them here… I’ll do so in the next few days….
I finally win…

I got it when I met up with an old friend of mine, Darwin, last night. Haha, we hadn’t seen each other in like 7 years – since Junior High. It was great, reminicing about old times and catching up.
Yesterday was a pretty full day of… movies. Haha. I watched 300 in theatres. Which was amazing!!! Oh man, all the blood and killing and swords and spears and arrows… it was great. It took Dave all of 30 seconds to convince me to go (I hadn’t heard about the movie until yesterday, amazingly… although not really, cause I haven’t seen a movie in theatres in a long time, so I haven’t been watching trailers either). Anyway, I liked it so much, I’m gonna watch it again with Eman and Joseph today.
After I got home yesterday, I watched Stranger Than Fiction. Which was good. But not that great. Then I played my DS a little (with my new game, Super Mario Brothers). Then I went out to meet Darwin… Then when I got home, I watched Babel. Which was pretty good as well, though it was a little hard to follow.
Phew. Overall, it was a great day. It’s just nice to have all that pressure of school lifted.
Great day…
Posted by: in Blogger on March 9th, 2007
What a great day I had… Though it wasn’t like just one great thing that happened that made it great. In fact most of the things that happened to me weren’t great… just good. Just normal. But the combination of them all, plus my feeling so… free.. after finishing this last essay this morning (for 3 weeks that is).
I finished my essay around 11:30, and made my way to school at that time. Afterward, I went my Internationa Relations class, which was really nice. Then I got a chance to go home and set up my laptop to record Ugly Betty before I went to church to work. Then, I traded in a coupla video games for a new one (I got Mario World 3 for DS), and then I rented a coupla movies (Stranger Than Fiction and Babel).
So yah, as I said, nothing special. Just. Good. Normal. But all… Great. Haha. I feel good.
Procrastination…
Posted by: in Blogger on March 7th, 2007
Ok so since I’ve been procrastinating all morning, I’m gonna top it off with this blog post. So far, I’ve watched 2 tv show episodes that I missed (The Unit and Ugly Betty), and a movie (An Angel for May). But alas, I must really get to work, so I’m going to be leaving (for the library… the local library, where there’s no internet connection) to study. But before we get to that…
Here are the movies that I need to rent this month… I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m really enjoying renting movies, rather than watching them in theatres. Maybe it’s cause it’s been a while since I’ve experienced a nice movie in a theatre… But meh, I like the comforts of my home (especially the comforts of my bed, even though that means watching a movie on small laptop screen)…
- The Departed
- Stranger Than Fiction
- Babel
- Tenacious D (maybe)
- Casino Royale
- Night at the Museum
- The Pursuit of Happyness
- Let’s Go to Prison
- Blood Diamond
I need to mention that this order is the order that these movies came out on DVD, and not in the order that I want to watch them Most of these movies (from Casino Royale on) won’t be out until next week. So that’s the only reason it’s in this order. I’ve really been looking forward to watching Babel and Stranger Than Fiction – so those are most likely my next rental (tomorrow after I hand in my last paper). I might rent the departed along with those two, but that depends on what coupon I use… So anyway, yah… horah.
Argh. I’m really really sick of the Blogger editting software here. First chance I get, I’m totally switching over to WordPress… But anyway, I’ve already talked about MissionFest, so I’m not going to bother with that anymore. Just wanted to share this cool pic I took of myself.
Ok well… Off to work. After I eat lunch. LOL.
