UPIS Batch of 2003
Posted by: in Blogger on June 30th, 2007
So apparently, if we had stayed in the Philippines and not moved to Canada, I would have graduated from high school in 2003, still. Quite odd. Cause that’s the year I graduated from High School here in Canada… and we have 2 extra years here. That means I was probably held back or something while I was at UPIS (University of the Philippines Integrated School).
New Camera… Finally…
Posted by: in Blogger on June 28th, 2007
Ahah. See, I knew I didn’t need to buy a new camera. My dad got this camera through airmiles. Of course it’s an old model that’s already on “clearance” sales at the electronics stores to make room for newer models. But whatever. Nice camera. I’m not complaining.

Thinking Dollars…
Posted by: in Blogger on June 21st, 2007
Well. A massive paycheque… Or should I say, a massive group of paycheques (I got like 4 of them) this week has got me thinking dollars again, and well.. what I’m going to be doing with the ones I earn this summer.
I used to have this hiearchichal list of things I was going to be according to how much money I earn this summer. But because of my new goal of going to Europe this November, I’ve pretty much scrapped that list for a new, possibly longer list, but one that contains much cheaper items.
Anyway, here’s my attept to quickly list some of my goal items to purchase this summer…
Grey’s Anatomy Season 2– Purchased 2 pay cheques ago…- Grey’s Anatomy Season 3 – $59
- The Unit Season 2 – $59
- New Digital Camera – $300+
- New Cell Phone – $100+
- Mario Party 8 – $59
- Command and Conquer 3 – $59
Ok well that’s all I can think of right now. I’m sure there’s more I want to buy… But eh. We’ll see.
The night bus…
Posted by: in Blogger on June 19th, 2007
So for the past week, I’ve been without a car, since the van was in the shop to have the engine replaced. Originally it was supposed to be two days -I brought it in last Monday. We finally got it back yesterday afternoon. Bah. It probably was the worst week to loose the car…
The week up to Wednesday wasn’t so bad. Then Thursday, I worked a frigging double shift – 12 hours. That killed me. But at least I wasn’t out too late. We had the boat cleaned early, and I even caught the last GO Train out of Union. The stupidity really started on Friday night.
Friday started out pleasant enough. Got to sleep in. Then we went to watch Ocean’s 13. Which was amazing. Then we went to the beach to drink and chill. All that was great. But then I made the decision to join my work friends downtown to go clubbing. That’s where things really went sour. I was tired from a whole day out. Plus I was a little tipsy from all the alcohol going around. And then. I had to take the night bus.
I left the club around 2:30AM. I was feeling pretty sick, and just overall tired already. So I got on the 320 which basically replaces the subway on Yonge St. BUT. I needed to pee so badly, I had to get off at some random intersection – I don’t even remember which one now, to use the washroom in some all-night pizza place. I was forced to buy a pizza too, since it was for customers only. I had just enough change to pay for the pizza.
Then, while waiting for the bus again, I saw a pretty funny sight. Well it was funny to me at the time, little did I know it would be a foreshadowing of things to come. There were two homeless guys fighting over a spot on the street to beg. Actually, yah it was sad. But it was funny because of what was happening. They were like, chasing each other around, crossing the street randomly and everything. Thankfully, some cops drove by as one of the was illegaly crossing the street again, and it was stopped. My bus soon came, but this one was packed…
On the bus, I was just dead tired and generally starting to get frustrated. Some drunk guy in the back was screaming random idiocies. And then two drunk guys at the front almost got into it. Oh man when they were yelling at each other, it was like a suspense movie.. will he make it? All I could think of was please wait until my stop before you start throwing punches. Cause that would have meant the bus stopping, everybody having to get off, while the cops came. And then, it would probably have meant waiting for another bus..
St. Clair… Almsot there. The two are really going at it with the swearing and the drunken insults. Actually I was starting to really think that they weren’t gonna fight, cause it was pretty obvious that one of them was just all talk, and didn’t really wanna get beat.
Davisville… One more frigging stop. Just, stay cool, loosers. Then you can kill each other for all I care. Oh but wait. Some other drunk guy behind me puked all over some people. Poor guy, had to get off the bus like 15 stops too early, cause he was so embarrased.
Eglinton. Ahh. Safe… I got on the 305, which took me almost to the doorstep of my house. Actually taking the night bus is pretty good in terms of time. 1.5 hours from downtown to my house is about normal.. which is alot to say if you’re not taking any trains.
It was 4AM when I finally crawled into bed. But yes of course, I would only stay in bed for about 4 hours when I had to wake up again and leave for work the next morning… or well.. the same morning.
There was nothing pleasant about Saturday at all. At least not from my perspective that morning. I would have to work from 9-2 for the city. Then 5-whenever for cruise. Bah, whatever I’m getting used to these 16 hour days. Actually, amazingly, the city shift went by pretty smoothly. I even had a pretty good lunch of salisbury steak which I bought from Shoppers Drug Mart. Oh and actually I got off at 1:15PM since my last class was cancelled. I went home, and had enough to time take a quick nap… like 20 minutes, and a shower before I had to go again to head downtown.
I was being cautious and I took the 3:07 train. Which got me downtown by 3:45 – a full 1:15 too early for my shift. But no worries, I had been wanting to try that Captain John’s restaurant, which is docked right in front of the Obession for a while. Bad choice though. I came in expecting to have like a 12 dollar meal of fish and chips. What did I end up with? 30 dollars on a dinner that I didn’t even enjoy that much. Bah. But no worries. I was feeling pretty good at that time, because I was expecting a good night at the bar.
Eeennnggg. Wrong again. The bar sucked. The wedding sucked. And the people sucked at giving tips. I made like $20. Bleh. Oh and of course. we didn’t get off until 1:30AM. Which means. Yup. the night bus again.
Well this time around was a little better cause I didn’t have to get off the bus to pee. But there were still some near-fights, and some idiot drunks screaming from the back of the bus. But whatever, I got out of there quick, and made my way on to the 305, which was more pleasant this time too cause I had my DS with me to keep me company.
I got home a 3AM this time too, which made sense since I started coming home 1-hour earleir than the night before too. Oh and it was good too because I also had to get up 1-hour early, at 7AM because I had to be at church at 7:30.
Ahh what a great weekend. Oh yeah it was father’s day, but I hardly spent time with my dad. I was at my church for the service cause I was playing. Then I stayed home all day while they went to Missisuaga, cause I was so dead tired.
Oh yeah. And sometime through all of that, I managed to loose my cell phone.
Bah. Whatever. I’m just glad to have the car back.
My 18-hour day…
Posted by: in Blogger on June 10th, 2007
Whoa. So yesterday, I left for work at 8:30AM, and I got home this morning at 2:30AM.
How’s that for a day? I left for work at 8:30AM because the day before Kevin Ainey called me, desperately looking for someone to cover the Piano class at Tallpines Rec Centre. I told him I could do it but I could only work until 2PM, because I had to leave for my other work, at the Harbour to make it to a cruise.
Well it turns out the 1PM-2PM class was canceled anyway. So after chilling a little with the staff at Tallpines, I left at around 1:30PM to make my way downtown. I was there by… oh probably 3:30, which is ridiculously long… although I did take a different route from my normal way (I took a bus all the way to Don Mills, and took the subway from there… Added probably 45 mins to the journey). but 3:30 was an hour early for my shift anyways, but the boat was already open, which was good, so I had something comfortable to sit on while I was playing video games (as in, chairs in the boat instead of the concrete floor on the harbour).
Once work did start, I got a nice surprise. Michelle (supervisor) decided to put me on the bar. Which was cool. Although I think it was pretty much about time I got trained on all the finer things… Next week I’m scheduled for 2 bar shifts – one of them by myself (although I’m pretty sure it’s just pop and juice), but the other one looks like a really busy night (there’s 8 people scheduled that night, meaning, really busy cruise). So yah, better to go a little easy on me before throwing me to the sharks… not that last night was easy… I had to go “in the hole” twice to refill beer. Man do people love Corona. I don’t get why, really… Oh and they also loved Coors light. We sold something like 3.5 boxes of Corona, which is 84 bottles, and at least 2 boxes of Coors… 48 cans. Other than that the most complicated drink I made was a fake cosmo (fake because we didn’t have triple sec, so instead, we put in a dash of grenadine to compensate for the lack of sweetness).
Anyway. the night was good for tips as well. Just under $100 is what I made. It is giving me a better idea of what I might make this summer, which is making me think again now (although I’m still cautiously optimistic about it) that I can make it to Europe in November. I’ll see how the next two weeks go before I RSVP with Ted Bieber to go to his wedding (I figure if I average 2 barshifts like this – as in similar tips – a week for the rest of the summer, I can pay for the Europe trip entirely out of my tips. Meaning, I can save my wages for paying off my credit card, and for my books next semester.
Bleh. Whatever. I’ll figure things out…
My feet… Ahhh..
Posted by: in Blogger on June 5th, 2007
I just finished watching 4 straight episodes of the second season of Grey’s Anatomy. Haha. And I earned every second of it.. what with, nearly 15 hours of work yesterday – 12 of them, straight.
Yes. After I finished my TEC shift, I went down to the harbour to work on the boat. For 2 straight cruises. 12 straight hours. Man my feet were killing me by the end of the night. I don’t even know how I had the strength to be pressing on the gas pedal to get me home.
Anyway. I’m going to take a nap now. And then I’ll probably watch some more Grey’s. I’m gonna enjoy my last week of no work before next week, when I shall have full time hours on the boat, finally (and possibly my first bartending shift…) They’re really taking their sweet time on that. Although whatever, I know, no experience, etc etc.
I’m beginning to doubt whether I can make it to Europe at all in November. But whatever. As long as I can, come September, put on my resume that I have 4 months of experience as a bartender, and thus possibly get a real bartending job somewhere, I’ll be happy to endure it.
All this is for the future… Like… the 2 years left I have in University. And the possible 6-8 more years of Law School or Graduate School, or whatever afterward.
But man, oh man. My feet. They hurt :S
Utter Laziness…
Posted by: in Blogger on June 1st, 2007
I did this online quiz thing once. It was like… what’s the chances of you going to hell, based on a number of questions about you and your… badness.. LOL. I of course did very poorly on it – by which I mean, I had very low low chances of going to hell – something like 15%. But the comment, which, stupid as the test was, was quite insighful, and really got to me (especially cause it was around the time when I should have been really hardcoring school) because it basically said that if there’s anything that will really “get me to hell”, it’s my sloth… that is.. yes. My laziness.
Nothing more than the past few weeks of no school and very little work to prove this.
My room’s still a mess. I’ve been telling my mom that I was going to finally clean it since school ended. Maybe I’ll actually get around to it by the time school starts. It seems like the only thing that gets me motivated is the prospects of earning money… by which I mean, I am at my least lazy state when I am at work.
But anyway. I do have something really bad to show for all this laziness… I’ve been putting off posting this. But alas, I cannot wait anylonger. Here are my marks for Year 2 of Operationg Degree… Yah that was stupid. I just made it up.
Bah. I can’t even post it right now, since ROSI (Repository of Student Information) is closed. Eh. I think that’s a good thing, maybe it’s a sign that I shouldn’t post my marks up for the world to see.
Anyway… Feeling extremely terrible about these marks. I’m doing a few things that I hope will really get me going and prepared for the next semester.
- I will learn french once and for all… Or at least, I’ll get the text book and get a massive head start for when I take it in September.
- I am also learning Tagalog over again, thanks to the Grade 6 Pilipino text book I bought when I was in the Philippines in January. Haha. But oh man it’s frigging hard.
- I will work my pretty little behind off, taking as many hours as I can, and possibly even getting a 2nd job (or… 4th.. or 5th.. or whatever.. I can’t keep track of all of them anymore), just so I am in a comfortable position come September.
- I have resumed something I had been doing since I was in Grade 6, but have stopped over the past 5 years or so… That is, Star Trek Play By Email Role Playing Simulations… LOL yah I know it’s really dorky and geeky. But I still truly truly believe that the practice I got in creative writing all those years is what really helped my writing skill along. I’ve even got a few exercises for myself lined up – like for example, paying extremely close attention to my tenses… Bah. I will have that problem fixed once and for all!
- I still need to take my frigging bartending exam. I was looking at job listings and I actually found places that require a bartending certificate for a job. So dangit, next week, I swear, I shall do it.
- I’m going to get my piano technical skills back up to grade 8, and finally buy the Piano-Forte book (Grade 10 scale book) that I’ve been meaning to buy for the past… 9 months.
- Oh and Learn PHP, and HTML, and XHTML, and CSS.
- Find a new series of books to read… Anyone have any ideas for me? I like war novels… My favourite series ever is The Corps by WEB Griffin, so if anyone has any suggestions of something similar, I’m willing to try it…
- On that note, I need to use up my discounts at Chapters before my membership expires… Oh but then again I plan to buy a textbook or two there come septmber.
- I’m learnign how to play the drums! yah.. hahaha.. And once I learn the drums, I think it’ll be easier for me to learn the guitar and ukelele…
Ok I’ve run out of things to say for now. But eventually… this list should grow. I like my jobs this year… very little responsibility. It’s just. Show up for work. Work 8 hours. Then come home without any burdens whatsoever. Oh and the jobs are so time consuming too, and they provide food for me. So I hardly have any expenses, meaning I can really save up some cash.
I have till the end of the month to figure out if I can actually do this Europe thing… Oh yeah. I’m going to Europe in November for Ted Bieber’s wedding. Or well I want to at least. Last day to RSVP is June 30th. So I shall see in the next few weeks if I can make enough money to go.
Bleh. Ok that really is it. I’m going to sleep now…. ahhhhhhh… utter laziness….
